Oh, you managed a distance of 10km with your long-range drone? That’s cute. NASA just flew a controlled a drone at a distance of about 291.1 million kms. NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter took its initial flight over Mars on Monday making history as the first machine from Earth to achieve powered, controlled flight over another planet. Okay, so it’s not exactly on par with the levels of modern FPV as the Ingenuity drone only sent back a few black and white images rather than a live video feed. It was also carried to Mars on the belly of Nasa’s Perseverance…

Sub250gFPV has built an impressive 3″ digital HD ripper weighing just 88grams AUW (all up weight). If you don’t know about Sub250gFPV, he is a micro quad developer from the UK specialising in – as the name suggests – quads weighing under 250 grams, although more recently it’s more like sub100. Sub250gFPV is continually pushing and testing the limits of what a micro drone can weigh and do, but this 3′ digital Kiss build might just be his most impressive micro yet. At just 88 grams including the mounted 2s 450mAh batteries, it could likely be the lightest 3″ HD…

Someone has created a 3D-printed Star Wars Republic LAAT Gunship inspired drone frame. 3D model designer SlicedStuff designed and printed a frame suit for a 5-inch quadcopter, and used the electronics from an iFlight Nazgul5 to make it fully flyable. Check out this flight video of the Star Wars Gunship model drone in action: https://youtu.be/GuiTQWq0cQs SlicedStuff has made the STL files available for download, although they’ll cost you $10. Not a bad price for your very own flying Star Wars Gunship in our opinion.

https://youtu.be/qfcSW2nOZ1A Unmanned Tech and China Hobby Line team pilot FPV-G rips a raw and technical freestyle with his own brand of snappy. Funnily enough, FPV-G usually has some of the most chill music in any freestyle edits out there despite his more aggressive style. More info: After failing 3 spots on a row (Getting kicked out, no access, and absolute boredom) I stumbled on this on the way to somewhere else with the guys. What we found was an absolute gem and got super lucky with no security being present that day for what is a headquarter office of a big…

https://youtu.be/d98avsklSAk Professional drone racing pilot and vlogger Nurk FPV (Paul Nurkkala) pushes the limits of the DJI FPV Drone to find out just how far it can really fly, and the results are quite impressive. Granted, it doesn’t come close to custom-built long-range quads, but the distance is respectable, and impressive when you consider it’s transmitting an HD signal and remains responsive even towards the end of that range. Nurk made it about 2kms before the batteries got too low and he had to turn back, so about a 4km round trip in total. DJI says their FPV drone has…

https://youtu.be/wsSrvyyP9MI Larsco FPV demonstrates the capabilities of the Obsession Micro, Dquad’s new sub250 freestyle quad using an Insta360Go action camera, and it looks impressive. This thing rips like a 5inch. This is Dquad’s first sub250 quad but it’s great for the hobby to have such makers pushing the boundaries of micros if not only to circumvent the increasingly strict laws for anything over 250grams in many countries. The ease of transportation and storage and the generally lower cost of micros are also a big plus for some. More details regarding the specs and release date are yet to be announced…
